The opening campaign featured a star-studded preview event, attended by the likes of Neil Patrick Harris, Padma Lakshmi, BD Wong and Beverly Nguyen, and culminated with an official ribbon-cutting ceremony. Din Tai Fung received a feverish wave of opening press and demand, including a glowing review in The New Yorker, which declared its acclaimed soup dumplings and Taiwanese favorites as “unimpeachably excellent.”
